The Trading division comprises the fertilizer trading and general trading operations. The ceramic trading operations has been consolidated into Hafary Holdings Limited.
The fertilizers trading operations supplies a wide range of fertilizers to oil palm plantations in Malaysia and Indonesia that include muriate of potash, ammonium sulphate, rock phosphate, kieserite, ammonium chloride, fused magnesium phosphate and other nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (NPK) fertilizers.
Fertilizers trading operates through Hap Seng Fertilizers Sdn Bhd (HSF), PT Sasco Indonesia (PTSI) and MML (Shanghai) Trading Co., Ltd (MMLS). These trading entities operate from 14 warehouses - eight in Malaysia and six in Indonesia. MMLS is based in Shanghai, China and trades in fertilizers globally.
Incorporated in 1969 under the name of Sasco Sdn Bhd, Hap Seng Fertilizers’ business was originally in the retail of agricultural supplies, selling fertilizers, agrochemicals and agricultural hardware.
Over the years, its strategic alliance with globally established fertilizer manufacturers as well as investment in expanding its network has propelled Hap Seng Fertilizers into one of the market leaders in the industry.
Already an established player in the East Malaysian fertilizers market, it expanded into the Peninsular Malaysia in 2002, establishing itself as a market leader in the trading and distribution of fertilizers and agrochemicals to the plantation industry in Malaysia.
It expanded regionally into Indonesia in 2004, via its subsidiary PT Sasco Indonesia, to market and distributes fertilizers in Indonesia. It further expanded into China, via its subsidiary Sasco (China) Co., Ltd, in 2016. Today, it handles more than one million metric tonnes of fertilizers and two million litres of agrochemicals per annum.
The general trading operations supplies a diverse portfolio of building material products,which include steel bars, cement, tiles, iron & metal, building chemicals, interior fittings, sanitary wares, aggregates and petroleum products.
General trading operates under Hap Seng Trading (M) Sdn Bhd and services the construction, housing development and infrastructure development industries through its network of six branches - four in Sabah, one in Johor and the main office in Kuala Lumpur.
Operating under Malaysian Mosaics Sdn Bhd, the ceramic tiles operation trades and distributes ceramic tiles under the MML brand name.
Established since 1964, industry experts from Japan, Italy and France were brought in to pioneer world class technology and stringent quality management in the start-up of MML – Malaysia’s first mosaic plant. Ever since then, MML has never stopped crafting tiles to the highest quality for consumers who deserve the best. The passion and dedication behind the brand have led to continuous innovation, and in year 2012, MML launched Malaysia’s first green tile which was awarded the Green Label from the Singapore Environment Council.
Over the years, the MML brand of luxury tiles has graced the walls and floors of residential homes and commercial spaces around the world, receiving nods for prestigious architectural projects and showrooms of international luxury brands, such as Mercedes Benz, Ferrari, Porsche, Lexus, Maserati and Infiniti.
In 2019, MML has also expanded its range of products to offer Luxury Vinyl Tile flooring. MML products are ISO certified and manufactured under stringent quality control standards and the brand has obtained international recognition for its achievements in building strong brand experiences.
The ceramic tiles operations also trade and distributes ceramic tiles in China, operating under MML (Shanghai) Trading Co. Ltd., who is also the sole distributor in China and Asia Pacific regions for Stone Carpet flooring from Risto GmbH & Co. KG who are headquartered in Germany.
