The grand opening of a State Library at Bandar Sri Indah, Tawau, Sabah was officiated
by Minister of Community Development and Consumers Affairs, Datuk Azizah Mohd
Dun and was witnessed by Property Division Chief Executive, Dato’ Paul Ng Kee
Seng, who was representing Group Managing Director, Datuk Edward Lee Ming Foo,
and Director of State Library, Wong Vui Yin, on 8 March 2011.
Guests at the event were entertained by traditional dances and a special story
telling session by a Primary 2 student from BSI Vision School. Hap Seng Properties
Development Sn Bhd also held a roadshow to showcase its various property developments
The setting up of Bandar Sri Indah library is the 83rd permanent location in
Sabah and it is the first such library within a residential area, providing 7,989
books and is equipped with computer facilities and free Wi-Fi services. At present,
Sabah has its main library in Kota Kinabalu with 4 regional libraries, 19 branch
libraries and 60 rural libraries. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility
to support the community, Hap Seng Properties Development Sdn Bhd charges the
library a token RM1 monthly rental for the premises in Bandar Sri Indah.
