Launch of CSR Program Providing English Tuition Classes

Hap Seng Building Materials Sdn Bhd successfully launched another Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative on 8 May 2010 for the benefit of students residing in DUN N.59 Tanjung Batu, Tawau through a program of English Tuition Classes that are made available to students between 10 years old to 12 years old. This CSR program was officiated by YB Datuk Seri Panglima Abdul Ghapur Haji Salleh, Parliament Representative for P.191 Kalabakan, Sabah with the presence of YB Datuk Hajah Hamisa Samat, State Assembly Representative of N.59 Tanjung Batu, Datuk A Asrie Haji Kadir, parents and students residing in the kampungs that are involved in the program.

The main objective of this program is to help students read, write and converse fluently in English at an early age. A total of 47 students registered to join the classes and were divided into two main groups: Group 1 for Primary 6 students and Group 2 for Primary 4 and Primary 5 students. Classes are conducted twice a week for each group and they are held between 3pm to 5pm at the Al-Aman Mosque compound, located in Kampung Tanjung Batu Tengah. To facilitate the learning process, two qualified English teachers were hired through Saujana Tuition Centre, a successful private learning centre in town.
