On 31 January 2009, Professor Wang Gungwu gave a lecture on "The Emergence of China". Professor Wang is Chairman of the East Asian Institute in Singapore; Chairman of Governing Board, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Singapore; and University Professor, National University of Singapore.
 
Chief Secretary to the Government, YBhg Tan Sri Mohd Sidek bin Haji Hassan, gave a lecture on “How Government Can Work With the Business Sector in Malaysia to Face the Global Economic Crisis” on 26 February 2009. After Tan Sri Sidek’s talk, participants took the opportunity to engage in an active dialogue session on the economy and what government servants could do to support the business sector.
